County / Township Real Estate Tax Bills are mailed in the middle of February. School Real Estate Tax Bills are mailed at the end of June.
Rebate: 2% savings. Approximate Due Dates: Country/Township – April 15th; School – August 31st.
Face: Base amount. Must be paid in the 3rd or 4th month after the bill date. Approximate Due Dates: County/Township – June 15th; School – October 31.
Penalty: 10% charge. Due Date: December 31 – payment must be post marked or placed in the payment box located to the left of the door as you enter the Peach Bottom Office Building. If paying after December 15th, the payment MUST be certified funds such as a Money Order, Cashier’s Check, or Treasurer’s Check.
Cash will only be accepted by the Elected Tax Collector.
All taxes billed with a bill date prior to September 1st MUST be paid by the end of the year or they will be turned over to York County Tax Claim (717-771-9232) for collection.
The amount of the tax is based on the assessed value. The sale price/appraised value and the assessed value have no relationship. York County Assessments (717-771-9232) determines the assessed value. For appeal information: www.york-county.org. The Tax Collector has absolutely nothing to do with assessing an improvement to a property and cannot estimate your tax liability.

Follow the below formula for an approximate tax value when you receive a new assessment, for an improvement such as a dwelling, addition, garage, deck, etc.

Taxing authorities can bill you from the date of Use & Occupancy. This will create bills for a partial prior year and the current tax year. Any future improvements can create additional bills, which are based on the improvement. Each municipality in York County has its own Tax Collector. Tax Collectors are independent, only paid to mail out tax bills and collect payments.
If you have a MORTGAGE ESCROW ACCOUNT, make a copy of this bill and mail it to your mortgage company.
$25.00 charge for returned insufficient funds check; account remains unpaid until receipt of this charge.
